About Us

DAVID FRANCIS PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO has been
established for almost three decades here in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, North Wales. It means far more than a living, too -film (and more recently, digital) has always been a burning passion - and today it is still the same.

It all began in the 1970s with some award-winning short fiction films, and self-promoting press photography to go with them! Freelance writing and photo-journalism then followed.

The first wedding film was produced in 1973 - only 13 minutes long! But it enabled a smooth transition to video, which saw us win a BEST WEDDING VIDEO IN WALES award, and has culminated, to date, with the latest digital 16 : 9 widescreen format. Photography, too, has welcomed this digital renaissance, as have we at DAVID FRANCIS.

BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE! TOP GEAR DOES NOT ENSURE TOP CLASS RESULTS.

WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE, THE SKILLS, THE TECHNIQUES: well . . . .

Our clients include town and county councils, among many businesses, large and small; whilst a varied spectrum of local events for individuals or groups & associations, provides us the chance to embrace a sincere passion for the ever-changing faces of people and places; whilst wedding video production caters for anyone on virtually any day of the week.

Commercial photography, on the other hand, can sometimes offer an unexpected freedom to shoot complex machinery in an almost abstract way -
though it depends on the client !

Despite having greatly increased the depth of our business, our former work hasn't been neglected - it's
just been adapted to fit in with today's trends, so still sits within DAVID FRANCIS'
portfolio.

Rhyl Pavilion demolition 1974, by David Francis Photography Press and Public RelationsProbably most famous of DAVID FRANCIS' work in the 1970s, was the impact made by the eye-catching sequence of pictures portraying the moment of demolition of Rhyl's legendary old pavilion dome - some of which not only graced the local press, but sold all over the world, as far afield as Australia.

David and Joy believe that the customers' needs should be the top priority.
That need always means that the best possible end product is expected -
and is received. We go to any length to achieve those expectations.

Although DAVID FRANCIS now uses very high quality digital equipment for
both photography and video production, we can't stress enough that this can  only enhance the flair and creativity of an already accomplished cameraman.
